Every first Sunday of June, the world pauses to observe National Cancer Survivors Day—a moment set aside to celebrate life beyond cancer, to honor the bravery of survivors, and to shine a light on the journey of healing, faith, and resilience. At Jesse Kay Hospital, this day holds deep meaning. As a faith-based Level 4 hospital, we not only care for the body but also nurture the soul. We join millions across the globe to honor the cancer warriors in our midst and recognize their incredible courage.
Established in 2018 as a ministry of Happy Life Children’s Home, Jesse Kay Hospital has always placed compassion, faith, and care at the heart of everything we do. With branches in Roysambu, Juja Farm, and Maria-ini, Murang’a, we stand as a beacon of hope for families in need of specialized care—including oncology and palliative support services for those affected by cancer.
🌍 Why This Day Matters
National Cancer Survivors Day is not only a celebration for those who have survived, but also an inspiration for those newly diagnosed, a support system for caregivers, and an outreach to the community. It reminds us that behind every survivor is a story of determination, family, faith, and medical care that matters.
In Kenya, cancer remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality. With rising numbers and increased cases of late diagnosis, awareness and education are critical in helping communities seek early screening, recognize warning signs, and access appropriate care. On this day, we raise our voices to break stigma, offer hope, and emphasize that early detection saves lives.
💚 Our Commitment to Survivors
At Jesse Kay Hospital, our approach to care is not limited to medical treatment—it includes spiritual and emotional support that reflects our belief in holistic healing. We walk alongside cancer patients through every stage of the journey—from diagnosis to treatment and into survivorship—with dignity, grace, and compassion.
We recognize that survivorship brings its own set of challenges, and that every patient needs continued guidance, mental health support, and wellness management. Our healthcare team is committed to providing comprehensive and personalized care, ensuring that every survivor can rebuild and thrive.
🤝 Raising Awareness: Together, We Can Do More
We believe that cancer awareness should not be limited to a single day. Instead, it should be part of everyday conversations in homes, churches, schools, and workplaces. Through our outreach and clinics, we encourage regular check-ups, lifestyle education, and preventive screenings.
This National Cancer Survivors Day, we call upon all Kenyans to stand in solidarity with survivors, support cancer education, and continue advocating for accessible cancer care across the country.
🙏 A Word of Faith and Encouragement
As a faith-driven institution, we believe that healing is a journey guided by both medical excellence and divine grace. To every cancer survivor and family member reading this: you are not alone. Your strength inspires us. Your faith fuels our mission.
We stand with you today—and every day—in hope, healing, and prayer.
