Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) : Men’s Health Matters

Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the prostate gland. A PSA test is a simple blood test used to help assess prostate health, especially in men above 40 years.

FREE for all men only @Jesse Kay Hospital, Roysambu. (Offer Valid Until April 30th 2026)

PSA testing is commonly used to screen for prostate cancer, but it can also help detect other conditions such as an enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) and prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate). While a PSA level between 0 and 4.0 ng/mL is generally considered normal, this can vary depending on age and individual factors.

It’s important to understand that a high PSA level does not automatically mean cancer. Levels can rise due to infections, recent medical procedures, or even recent ejaculation. Because of this, doctors often consider PSA trends over time rather than relying on a single result.

Men are encouraged to speak with their JKH hospital about PSA testing, especially if they experience symptoms such as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, or a weak urine stream. Early detection and regular check-ups play a key role in maintaining prostate health.
